Coal Minister Reviews SECL Performance, Meets Chhattisgarh CM on Coal Sector Development
New Delhi, May 27 (KNN) Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey reviewed the performance of state-run South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) during his one-day vissit to Chhattisgarh.
Dubey also met state chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur and discussed issues related to coal production, infrastructure development, logistics connectivity, energy security and industrial growth in the state.
"The discussions focused on strengthening coordination between the Central and State Governments for expediting key development projects, enhancing ease of operations and creating new opportunities for economic growth and employment in the coal-bearing regions," an official release said.
At the SECL headquarters, the union minister chaired a review meeting covering coal production, dispatch, quality management, mine safety, digitisation initiatives, environmental sustainability measures, coal gasification projects, mine closure activities and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.
The meeting was attended by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, functional directors, senior officials from the Ministry of Coal and SECL representatives.
During the meeting, Duhan stated that in the ongoing financial year 2026-27, SECL contributed 26.86 million tonnes towards Coal India Limited’s cumulative coal production milestone of 100 million tonnes.
He reiterated the company’s commitment to meeting the country’s growing energy demand under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal.
As part of SECL’s digital initiatives, the minister launched the e-DADAS (Design and Drawings Approval in SECL) portal and the Hospital Management and Information System (HMIS) portal.
