Coffee Board to promote entrepreneurship

New Delhi, Jun 14 (KNN)  The Coffee Board of India is offering a reach-out programme in Coffee Entrepreneurship, an intensive programme that will train potential and nascent coffee entrepreneurs in starting and establishing high-growth businesses.
 
The programme to be held here from July-10 to 12 is being organised by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore.
 
“The objective of the program is to provide essential techno-managerial knowledge and skills required by potential and nascent coffee entrepreneurs to establish and manage high-growth coffee businesses,” as per official data.
 
Modules that will be covered in the programme are opportunities for entrepreneurship in the Indian Coffee sector; coffee quality assessment; coffee roasting and grinding businesses; coffee retaining businesses; business planning; and support systems for coffee businesses.
 
The programme is best suited for persons who are interested to start coffee retailing businesses, roasting and grinding units or any other business in the coffee sector; and also for persons who have recently started a coffee business and are desirous of consolidating the venture.
 
Resources persons for the programme are coffee industry representatives, technical experts and IIPM faculty.
 
As far as the programme structure is concerned, opportunities for coffee entrepreneurship would be introduced through presentation and discussions.  Further, basic skills in coffee quality assessment, roasting and grinding, brewing and cupping would be imparted through practical sessions conducted by experted of the Quality Control Laboratory of the Coffee Board of India.
 
In addition, participants would develop draft business ideas that would be reviewed by industry representatives and entrepreneurs.  Those who complete the programme successfully can avail on on-line mentoring support (techno-managerial) for about three months.
 
The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at IIPM is a pioneering initiative to promote entreneurship in the Indian Coffee sector.  The Coffee Board has sponsored CIE-IIPMB to promote coffee entrepreneurship through a set of focused activities by the centre.
 
IIPMB and the Coffee Board have recently launched the Reach-Out Programme in Coffee Entrepreneurship to promote employment generation.  (KNN/ES)
