New Delhi, Aug 19 (KNN) The Department of Commerce organised an awareness session on European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM) regulations to help Indian exporters understand and prepare for the new sustainability-related trade requirements.

The session, held in collaboration with the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) and Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) at Vanijya Bhawan, was attended by around 100 exporters and industry stakeholders.

Participants were briefed on CBAM applicability, covered products, embedded emissions calculation, data collection and reporting, accreditation and verification requirements. Case studies covering the iron and steel and aluminium sectors were also discussed.

Amit Verma, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, said exporters need to be adequately informed and prepared to meet emerging sustainability requirements in international markets.

He added that the Department is engaging with industry and stakeholders to address concerns and facilitate practical solutions.

N. Venkateswaran, CEO, NABCB, highlighted the importance of credible accreditation and verification systems for emissions data, while Pankaj
