Commerce ministry holds talk with Industry-Export bodies, challenges-revamping exports on the agenda

New Delhi, Oct 7 (KNN) In an attempt to facilitate the growth of exports, Commerce & Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu held discussions with different stakeholders including Export Promotion Councils, Associations and Local Chambers.

The prime aim of the meeting was to explore roadmap to give a fillip to the export sector.

Along with Prabhu, Minister for Textiles and Information and Broadcasting, Smriti Zubin Irani, and the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, C R Chaudhary, the Commerce Secretary, the Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion and the DGFT were part of the discussion.

Prabhu asked the participating stakeholders to come up with  a vision statement for their product group in order to facilitate their respective sector.

The Minister also emphasized the need to boost exports in order to achieve better growth figures.

The industry bodies also requested the Ministry to look into the issues of the industry under the new taxation.

Concerns over capital blockage were also raises during the meeting. (With PIB inputs) (KNN/DA)
