Consultative Committee, Labour and Employment discusses 'Functioning of DGMS and DGFASLI'

New Delhi, Jan 5 (KNN) The Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry of Labour and Employment today discussed various measures related to the safety of workers and labours.

The agenda for discussion included Functioning of Directorate General Mines Safety(DGMS) and Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institute (DGFASLI)”. Chairing the meeting, Bandaru Dattatreya, the Minister of State (IC), Labour & Employment briefed members on agenda and various steps taken for the safety and welfare of workers.

After presentations on DGMS and DGFASLI, the meeting discussed the agenda in detail. The members suggested the Minister to devise mechanism for ensuring safety of workers in all mines, to protect the contractual labour specially his safety, to make a comparative study of safety measures taken by PSUs, joint ventures and Private players. Members also suggested focusing more on health issues of the workers.

Dattatreya assured members to take care of the suggestions made and increasing coordination with Health Ministry. The meeting also confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting and the Action Taken Report. (With Inputs from PIB)
