Cotton Association of India advised to harmonize its laws with ICA

Mumbai, May 5 (KNN) The International Cotton Association’s (ICA) has proposed the Cotton Association of India (CAI) to adopt ICA’s by-laws for amending its own by-laws relating to international trade.

During ICA delegation’s recent visit to India, the members pitched several other opportunities of collaboration to the officials of CAI as the two trade bodies signed an agreement for enhancing cooperation and addressing quality related issues.

The ICA delegation also discussed a proposal to organise training programmes in India, ICA Bremen certification of a few CAI laboratories and their recognition.

The MoU between the two trade bodies included organising yearly meetings to discuss issues of mutual interest and further ways to increase co-operation; visit of delegation and organising training programmes in India; information exchange and dissemination etc.

The delegation will also meet members of the Confederation of Indian Textiles Industry (CITI), members of the North India Textile Mills Association and multinational cotton companies.

Before concluding their India visit, the delegation is also schedule to visit the Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), a leading research institution on cotton in India.  (KNN Bureau)
