Customers, shopkeepers, manufacturers - all for Green Crackers this year
New Delhi, Oct 16 (KNN) Festival of light Diwali is all set to adopt green crackers this year which is expected to reduce emission of harmful chemicals with low sound in line with the Supreme Court order.
While speaking on the same with KNN India, Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers’ Association (TNFAMA) President P Ganesan threw some light on the benefits of the green crackers and said, "Since the Supreme Court (SC) had banned conventional crackers in 2018, and told that only green crackers with reduced emission would be permitted, so following the SCs order we are producing green crackers.''
He further went on explaining the benefits of green crackers and said that, "There are some changes in the formula as compared to previous year. In the recent formula, we are using some scientist recommended materials which will reduce dust particles in the environment by 25 per cent to 30 per cent. It's an environment friendly crackers.''
''The Green crackers would bring down the emission of pollutants by around 30 per cent while the noise level would be around 125 decibel(dB), down from 160dB. Though it still exceeded the standard of 90dB, efforts were on to fine-tune it further,'' he added.
When being asked on the demands of the green crackers in the market, the association President replied, ''Of course, there is a lot of demand, not only in India but also across the world, where people are opting for these crackers instead of conventional cracker.''
''Since, it’s an eco-friendly, we are expecting more business and in the coming days we also work on to limit the noise level to 90dB,'' he asserted.
Notably, the apex court in October last year had ruled that only green crackers with reduced emission would be permitted to be manufactured and sold across the country forcing the fireworks manufacturing units go for an indefinite strike last year demanding the lifting of the restrictions on bursting of crackers.
