Cuts Intl & World Trade Institute to organize seminar on Impact Assessment of EU-India BTIA

New Delhi, Apr 21 (KNN) The World Trade Institute along with Cuts International is organizing a discussion on "Impact Assessment of EU-India Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement" at India International Centre on Friday.

During the daylong event, panel discussions, presentation of studies and question answer rounds would be held.

Recently, India and the 28-member European Union (EU) have agreed to implement a framework to boost European investments in Asia’s third largest economy even as the two sides agreed to continue talks on concluding a bilateral trade and investment pact.

Along with Pradeep S Mehta, Secretary General, CUTS International and Anthony Cooper, First Secretary, UK Trade & Investment, British High Commission, New Delhi, the opening remarks would be given by Anita Praveen, Joint Secretary, EU-India BTIA Division, Department of Commerce, Government of India and Maurizio Cellini, First Counsellor, Head of Trade and Economic Affairs, Delegation of the European Union to India.

A detailed study on the subject would be presented by Koen Berden, Director, World Trade Institute, Bern, Switzerland.

Among the panellists are - Pranav Kumar, Director & Head, International Policy & Trade, Confederation of Indian Industry; Gautam Mody, General Secretary, New Trade Union Initiative  Arpit Bhutani, India Co-ordinator, United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards and more.

Bilateral trade between India and the EU stood at $126 billion and India has so far garnered $69 billion in foreign direct investment, according to Indian figures. (KNN Bureau)
