DRDO announces 1295 Tech development opportunities for industry

New Delhi, June 28 (KNN) The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Tuesday released total of 75 priority technology areas at the Anusandhan Chintan Shivir event in New Delhi.

These technology areas are further divided into 404 technological categories which further spread out to 1295 current and future technology development tasks.

Aerodynamics, Autonomous Systems and Robotics, Biomedical Engineering & Technologies, Electronic warfare, Firefighting are of the areas.

The theme of the event was- ‘Catalysing Defence R&D within Industry & Academia’ and it was organized to align industry and academia with DRDO for defence R&D in critical technology areas.

It was part of DRDO’s initiative to foster industry and academia cooperation to develop new technologies to help DRDO establish an ‘Aatmanirbhar’ Defence ecosystem.

In his address, General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff called the Anusandhaan Chintan Shivir a unique opportunity for industry and academia to collaborate and to develop new technologies that would make India defence ecosystem self-reliant which is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Other speakers at the event were Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO, Dr. Subrata Rakshit, DS & DG TM, Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director IIT Delhi and Arun Ramchandani, Executive VP, L&T.
