Delhi power consumers face tariff hike
Updated: Mar 29, 2014 11:59:36am
Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has sought permission from Delhi Electoral Office to initiate the process of power tariff hike, according to reports, saying that it needs a minimum of 30 days from the date of public notice to finalise the power tariff.
The move comes owing to complaints from NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Corporation) and power distribution about problems in purchasing power from the national grid or other states; and about the losses incurred in the process.
The new power tariff is likely to be effective from June 1.
Before determining tariff, DERC is required to invite comments and suggestions from all stakeholders and public through a public notice. It is also required to conduct public hearings, thus providing opportunity to the public to give their views. (KNN/ES)
