Delhi traders happy with withdrawal of rule to declare goods; want other issues to be resolved too

New Delhi, June 1 (KNN) The traders are happy with the Delhi Government’s recent move to withdraw the notification by the trade and taxes department, prescribing a new form, Delhi Sugam-1 (DS-1).

The notification, which was to become effective from June 1, prescribed to make it mandatory for traders to provide prior information about all goods being sent outside the national capital.

The decision was taken after Delhi traders met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal last week and raised their concerns about the order.

Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said in a statement, “The unity expressed by traders of Delhi has forced Delhi Government to withdraw controversial VAT DS-1 Form.

Commissioner VAT has issued a notification of withdrawal of said form.”

The Traders Action Committee, formed by leading trade associations of Delhi, has expressed satisfaction over issuance of notification but said that another notification of VAT Department regarding mandatory writing of item code in invoices and other important issues also needs to be resolved.
