Demonetization good as well as bad for e-commerce players

New Delhi, Nov 12 (KNN) On one hand the e-commerce players are cashing in through buyers who are comfortable paying online, while on the other hand they are not taking any Cash on Delivery Orders which has affected their businesses.

The e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart have stopped taking cash on delivery orders post PM Narendra Modi's move to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. While going a step forward Myntra has come up with card on delivery option.

Flipkart website says that COD facility is not available. Snapdeal has introduced a new ‘Wallet on Delivery’ option for users, whereby they can pay via FreeCharge wallet when their item is being delivered.

Meanwhile, to avoid missing out on business after the carpet ban on Rs500 and Rs1000 currency notes imposed, more and more merchants are enrolling with e-wallet firm PayTM.

According to a media report, the company is also targeting to enroll 4 million merchants by December 2016.

PayTM presently has 300,000 merchants enrolled in Delhi, NCR alone. The consumer base of PayTM, nationwide is 150 mobile wallets. The Noida offices of PayTM host 2000 of its total 4500 employees nationwide.
