DGAD initiates investigation on certain steel bar-rod import as industry complains dumping

New Delhi, Sept 26 (KNN) In an attempt to protect the domestic industry, the government has launched an anti-dumping investigation on the import of certain steel products including straight length bars and rods of alloy steel from China

The probe comes as a response to the complaints raised by the domestic manufacturers in India, submitting an application to the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) for launching of anti-dumping investigation and imposition of the duty on these steel items.

Responding to the complaints, DGAD has said that it has sufficient evidence of dumping of these imports from China.

DGAD informed that the period of investigation for the present probe is 2016-17, but to determine the injury to the domestic market, the period will also cover data of 2013-16.

DGAD in its investigation will determine existence, degree and effect of alleged dumping and recommend the amount of anti-dumping duty, which if levied would be adequate to remove the injury to the domestic industry.

Anti-dumping measures are taken to ensure fair trade and provide a level-playing field to the domestic industry.(KNN/DA)
