DGAD to impose anti-dumping duty on resorcinol from China-Japan

New Delhi, Jan 9 (KNN) In an attempt to protect the domestic industry, the government has issued recommendation to impose anti-dumping duties on the imports of resorcinol originating from China and Japan.

The recommendation comes as a response to the complaints raised by the domestic manufacturers in India, submitting an application to the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) for launching of anti-dumping investigation and imposition of the duty on the item.

Responding to the complaints, DGAD has said that it has sufficient evidence of dumping of these imports from China and Japan.

The Directorate in a notification said “The Authority is of the view that imposition of anti-dumping duty is required to offset dumping and injury. Therefore, the Authority considers it necessary to recommend imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of subject goods from the subject countries for a period of three years only.”

DGAD informed that the period of investigation for the present probe is from April 1 2015 to March 31, 2016 but to determine the injury to the domestic market, the period will also cover data of 2012 to 2015.

Resorcinol is a phenolic compound used in manufacturing of various items including medicines, resins, dyes, plastics and various other organic chemical compounds.

Anti-dumping measures are taken to ensure fair trade and provide a level-playing field to the domestic industry. (KNN/ DA)
