DGFT Imposes Curbs On Glufosinate Imports, Issues CPC Guidelines For Aluminium Sector

New Delhi, Apr 14 (KNN) The government on Monday imposed restrictions on the import of Glufosinate and its salts, a widely used agricultural herbicide, for a period of six months.

In a notification, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said, "The import of Glufosinate and its salts... shall be restricted where the combined amount of the CIF (cost, insurance, freight) value and applicable anti-dumping duty, calculated on a per kilogram basis, is less than Rs 1,154."

The move is aimed at regulating low-cost imports and protecting domestic industry interests.

Procedure Notified for Pet Coke Imports

In a separate development, the DGFT on Friday issued detailed guidelines for the import of calcined petroleum coke (CPC) for use in the aluminium sector for 2026–27.

Applications have been invited for allocation of import quantities of CPC and raw petroleum coke used in its manufacturing. The allocation will be based on recommendations of an Exim facilitation committee.

Temporary Relief for Rice Exporters

The DGFT has also relaxed inspection requirements for rice exports. It said that certification from the Export Inspection Council and Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs) will now be mandatory only for shipments to the European Union, Iceland, the UK, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Exports to other European countries have been exempted from this requirement for six months, providing temporary relief to exporters.
