DHI - MSDE sign MoU for skill development for the Manufacturing Sector

New Delhi, Dec 10 (KNN) The Department of Heavy Industry and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship have signed an MoU for  large scale capacity building for the Manufacturing Sector, particularly for  the Capital Goods sector and automotive sector.

The MoU was signed by Dr Rajan Katoch, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry and Mr Rohit Nandan, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in the presence of Shri Anant Geete, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on the eve of WIN (World of Industry) India conference.

The key activities to be undertaken under the MoU, include creating a National Ecosystem for Development of Skills and other sectors/subjects,  bring in the internationally known best practices in the field of skill development & entrepreneurship and  establishing  a National Institute of Manufacturing Technology (NIMT)‘ for training, education and research in manufacturing technologies by leveraging the infrastructure and facilities of PSUs under DHI.

DHI has sponsored constitution of the Sector Skill Council for Capital Goods Sector (SSC_CG) with the NSDC and is  involving Industry bodies and federations in developing National Occupation Standards and Quality Packs for skill development in capital goods sector. FISME the national federation of MSMEs has also signed a MoU with the SSC_CG.

Speaking on the occasion Anant Geete said the Government is aiming to create direct and indirect employment for 30 million workers in the capital goods sector by 2025 and for that purpose get the services of internationally renowned experts.

He also mentioned that the Draft National Policy on Capital Goods is ready after extensive industry consultations and is under active consideration of the Government.

Department of Heavy Industries is organising DHI ‘Make in India’ pavilion at WIN India 2015, Fair, being held at Pragati Maidan Delhi on 9th and 10th December, 2015, which will showcase the prowess of India’s manufacturing in technology. (KNN/ DB)
