New Delhi, Jan 14 (KNN) Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has sought comments on draft quality control order on aluminium foil under BIS Act, 2016.

Under the order, aluminium alloy bare foil used for food packaging shall conform to the Indian Standard (IS: 15392) and use the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

DIPP is in the process of issuing quality control order on aluminium foil.

The Central Government, after consulting Bureau of Indian Standards, is of the opinion that it is necessary to pass the quality order in public interest.

This order is applicable for import and manufacture for use within in India.

BIS will be the certifying and enforcing authority for aluminium foil. (KNN Bureau)
