Disruption will come as an obstacle in growth of SMEs: BSE SME Chief on impact of GST

New Delhi, July 31 (KNN) Disruption will come as an obstacle in growth of SMEs, said BSE SME Chief Ajay Thakur adding that the sector will have to overcome hurdles and prosper.

He was speaking at SME Sammelan organized by Assocham to discuss on the topic ‘Impact of GST on Start-ups & SMEs’.

He pointed that SME sector contributes to 60 per cent of country’s GDP and forms the backbone of Indian economy.

Meanwhile, the SME exchange of BSE has completed listing of 188 companies reflecting increasing investment sentiments of investors in the platform.

7NR Retail Ltd and Jigar Cable Limited were the latest two companies to get listed on the BSE SME Platform.

SEBI came out with detailed guidelines on 18th May 2010 for the launching of SME Exchange/Platform. BSE became the first stock exchange to get the approval from SEBI and launch its SME platform on 13th March 2012.

 The response since the launch of this platform by BSE has been very positive and till date. Out of 188 listed companies, as many as 31 have migrated to main board BSE.

The total amount of money raised so far through trading on the platform is Rs 1,468.39 crore and the market capitalization of companies has reached Rs 17,864.47 crore.  (KNN Bureau)
