DMIC projects to offer business opportunities to small units

New Delhi, Jan 21 (KNN) Micro and small scale industries (SSIs) can avail of business opportunities from Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) projects coming up in certain parts of the country.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved an estimated Rs 808.60 crore integrated industrial township at Vikram Udyogpuri near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, according to an official release.
“The development of infrastructure industrial township at Vikram Udyogpuri is expected to attract private sector investments of around Rs 13,000 crore. The primary objectives of development of the township is to initiate industrial development, enabling the Pithampur, Dhar Mhow Investment region to take off, while providing essential infrastructure and services to support establishment of institutions that would create the skilled and employable work force,” it said.
Meanwhile, the committee has also approved the formation of a Joint Venture Company (JVC), with equity contribution of 50 per cent each from DMIC Trust and the Uttar Pradesh government represented by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).
“The development of the infrastructural industrial township is expected to attract private sector investments of over Rs.33,000 crore over a period of 30 years, generate significant employment (direct or indirect) and lead to multiplier effect in each of the target industry sectors, including backward and forward linkages with other sectors of the economy. The project will drive manufacturing and catalyse the growth of industrial development in the DMIC region by attracting skilled human resources at the Integrated Industrial Township at Greater Noida,” it said.
The development of the integrated industrial township at Vikram Udyogpuri is an early bird project by Delhi Mumbai Industrial Development Corporation (DMICDC) in consultation with MP government to drive non-polluted industries and engage related sectors in the region.
On the other hand, the development of the infrastructural industrial township at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh will drive manufacturing activities and promote sustainable development. (KNN/ST)
