DMIC to generate employment, boost development: Sitharaman

New Delhi, Dec 9 (KNN) The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Project, which has been planned as a global manufacturing and investment destination, is expected to boost development of infrastructure in States and generate employment, Parliament was informed today.

It is envisaged that Shendra Bidkin Industrial Park will be able to generate more than 50,000 direct jobs after the completion of various phases of the project, Commerce & Industry Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.

Government of Japan has agreed to provide financial support to the DMIC Project through a mix of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency lending for projects with Japanese participation.

DMIC Project is expected to boost development of infrastructure in States covered by this project namely Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The length of the corridor is 1483 kilometer, she said. (KNN Bureau)
