DPIIT extends deadline for seeking stakeholders’ comments on draft e-commerce policy till March 29

New Delhi, Mar 11 (KNN) Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has extended the timeline seeking the comments/suggestions from stakeholders on draft e-commerce policy till March 29, 2019.

In a notification, DPIIT said “Comments/suggestions on the draft policy are hereby invited from stakeholders with the last date for receiving comments being March 29, 2019.”

The draft policy seeks to provide for consideration and discussion, a policy framework that will enable the country to benefit from rapid digitization of the domestic, as well as global economy, it added.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's arm, DPIIT, formulated the draft e-commerce policy that aims to regulate cross-border data flow, fight piracy and counterfeiting and requires all online retailers to have a locally registered business entity.

Overall, the new draft addresses six key areas that includes data, infrastructure development, e-commerce marketplaces, regulatory issues, domestic digital economy and export promotion. (KNN/YV)
