New Delhi, July 6 (KNN) The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on Tuesday asked the Toy Industry in India to focus on enhancing its capacity building and work on big concepts to push its manufacturing and exports segment.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil Agarwal, Additional Secretary, DPIIT said the government's initiatives like increasing import duty, and issuance of quality control order has helped in cutting imports and promoting manufacturing.

“Now it’s time that the industry has to "think on big ideas,” he added.

Lauding the revenue growth in toy industry, Agarwal said that the industry has to reach new heights to become a unicorn.

“They need to bring professionalism in their management besides capacity building," he said.

Stressing on India’s low share in the global toy industry of USD 120 billion Manu Gupta, promotor of Playgro Toys India, said the industry needs more government support so that the industry reaches to next level and generate jobs and boost exports.

The fair was organised after a hiatus of three year due to the covid-19 pandemic.

About 96 stalls were there showcasing made in India toys.  (KNN Bureau)
