'E-Dhaga' mobile app for Indian weavers

New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN) The ‘E Dhaga’ mobile application developed by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) has been launched by the Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani. The app will help the weavers know about the availability of raw material or delays in supply.

It is available in Hindi, English and Telugu, languages currently but soon be released in Bengali, Oriya, Urdu and Assamese also.

The application will address weavers’ issues pertaining to raw material availability, supply delays as well as stock availability, said Irani.

According to the Ajay Tamta, Minister of state for textiles, this application will ensure transparency in the system. Emphasising on the need to encourage weavers to use the application, textiles secretary Rashmi Verma said that it will be a useful tool for transacting with NHDC.

With this application weavers can also know the status of shipments of the dispatched raw materials with the help of the application. NHDC has also begun accepting payments through digital modes and it will place its last three months yarn procurement of societies in the public domain. (KNN/ RAS)
