EEPC India compliments Govt for improvement in WB's Ease of Doing Business

New Delhi, Oct 25 (KNN) Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India's  Chairman Ravi Sehgal on Thursday complimented the government for improving India's World Bank ranking in Ease of Doing Business (EODB), among 7 out of 10 parameters, particularly with regard to carrying out trade across borders at a time when the global market is facing headwinds and exporters need all the facilitating measures.

''India' s ranking in Ease of Doing Business would boost confidence in dealing with India for our trading partners. As an apex exporting organisation of the engineering sector, the EEPC India is particularly pleased about easing rules and regulations and improving physical infrastructure with regard to trading across borders," said Sehgal, India's ranking on trading across border has gone up by 12 notches from 80 to 68 in 2019 from the previous year.  

He said, the World Bank's ranking on EODB would boost morale of exporters as also importers. External trade is a key component of the country's GDP and would continue to need all types of suppot, be it at the policy level or at the infrastructure level. Improvement in road, rail and airport connectivity, coupled with facilities at the port administration would have made a big difference.  

Sehgal said such measures with the active involvement of the state governments are particularly important when exporters are facing tough global environment.
