New Delhi, Nov 18 (KNN)  In order to recapture the market for engineering exports in the European Nations, EEPC India plans to sell India’s image as a reliable source for high-technology items at world renowned technology fairs.

“In a bid to recoup the markets for engineering exports in Germany and other key European nations , the EEPC India's advanced action plan for next year includes hard-selling the country's image as a reliable source for high-technology items at world renowned technology fairs such Hannover Messe,” EEPC said in a press release.

The European Union is among the top markets for Indian engineering exports, which are the second largest contributors to the country's export basket.

While engineering exports in general have staged a smart pick-up in the second quarter of the current fiscal, shipments to Germany and other western markets like the US remain subdued. The engineering exports to Germany have shown a drop of over eight per cent in the April-September period of fiscal 2013-14, while the overall consignments have moved to the positive territory.

“To hardsell India as a sourcing hub, the EEPC India (formerly Engineering Export Promotion Council) has booked a big space of 350 square metres for forthcoming Hannover Messe between April 7-14,” according EEPC India Chairman Anupam Shah.

He said in the near future, "We may even have a full-fledged India Show there".

The Indian engineering industry has been participating for the last 20 years consistently in Hannover Messe underscoring the importance of the Indo-German industrial cooperation, said EEPC India Regional Director Rajat Srivastava.

Top global companies in the fields of industrial automation, energy, industrial supply as well as research and technology present their products, solutions and services participate in the Hannover Messe, giving opportunity for Indian firms to build and cement their international linkages.

Senior Vice President of Hannover Messe, Marc Siemering who was recently in Mumbai, said India is an important country for Hannover Messe -both in terms of visitors and exhibitors.

"Since the fair attracts high potential b2b visitors from over 90 countries, Hannover Messe is an ideal gate way for Indian companies to enter the European markets and the global markets,” he added. (KNN/SD)
