Election 2019: Awareness campaign in Jaipur by EC for labourers

Jaipur, Apr 11 (KNN) A massive awareness campaign has been launched in the city by the district election officer (Jaipur) for encouraging thousands of labourers working in industries to vote.

Teams of district election officer is reaching out to industrial areas where they hold meeting with owners of industries and asking them to keep their industries closed on voting day so that labourers will be able to go to polling booths and cast their votes.

The district administration teams have also started organizing street plays on the premises of industries to create awareness among the labourers.

According to Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), there are more than 37,000 registered industrial units, where thousands of labourers are working on daily basis.  

District election officer keep the EVM-VVPAT (Electronic Voting Machine-Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) machines on display.

The labourers press the button on EVM on display and learnt how it functions.

It is for the first time when election commission is using EVM-VVPAT is being used in Lok Sabha polls.

Besides, the artists use dialogues and also used poetry for attracting the labourers. The artists called Lok Sabha elections as ‘desh ka tyohaar’ (festival of the country).

They also use drum beats to attract attention of the audience. (KNN/JM)
