Election 2019: Existing schemes for SC/ST MSMEs should be continued by new govt post-election: DICCI

New Delhi, Mar 27 (KNN) As the stage is set for India’s democratic battle with Lok Sabha election just a few weeks away, the Pune based Dalit Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) has asked for continuation of existing initiatives taken to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the new government formed after the polls.

Speaking with KNN India, Chairman of DICCI, Milind Kamble said, “We expect that whichever party forms the new government should continue with the initiatives taken to promote entrepreneurship among the SC/ST entrepreneurs.”

He said the establishment of the National SC/ST Hub, through which a number of SC-ST specific schemes are being made available to SC/ST entrepreneurs should be continued as it focuses on increasing market access, ensure higher participation of SC/ST entrepreneurs in public procurement and to promote the creation of new SC/ST enterprises.

Besides this, Kamble expressed his desire for continuation of existing financial support schemes like Mudra, Startup India, and Credit enhancement guarantee scheme.

According to him, these schemes are very well pooled and supportive for SC/ST Startup and MSMEs.

For the benefit of SC/ST entrepreneurs, all the existing schemes are important for financial and social inclusion and must be continued by the upcoming government, said Kamble while sharing his expectations from the new government after elections.

The National SC/ST Hub (NSSH) is an initiative of the Government of India targeted towards developing a supportive ecosystem towards SC/ST entrepreneurs.

The NSSH provides professional support to the SC/ST enterprises by enabling them to effectively participate in public procurement process. The Hub works towards the development of new entrepreneurs to participate in procurement process.

The Stand up India scheme was aimed at promoting entrepreneurship at the grassroots sections of the society. The scheme was launched in 2015 to promote funding for green-field projects promoted by SC/ST/Women entrepreneurs. The scheme facilitates bank loans between Rs 10 lakhs and Rs 1 crore. Let’s find out more about the loan scheme.

Launched by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the Credit Enhancement Guarantee Scheme for Scheduled Castes (CEGSSC) is a social sector Initiative in order to promote entrepreneurship among the scheduled caste population in India.

This scheme was brought to promote financial inclusion for SC entrepreneurs and to motivate them for further growth of SC communities and also to facilitate economic development of SC entrepreneurs. The aim of the scheme is not only to significantly uplift the businesses of the existing SC entrepreneurs but also the first generation SC entrepreneurs, who aspire to be part of neo middle class category.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will be held in seven phases, from April 11 to May 19, 2019 across India's 543 constituencies in 29 states and 7 Union Territories. (KNN/YV)
