4 Semiconductor Plants To Go Operational By 2026: Ashwini Vaishnaw
New Delhi, Mar 2 (KNN) Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said 3 more semiconductor plants will begin commercial production in 2026, taking the total to 4 operational units out of the 10 projects approved so far.
His remarks came a day after Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Micron ATMP (Assembly, Test, Marking and Packaging) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, marking the start of commercial production.
Addressing a semiconductor-focused conference, Vaishnaw said, "The promise he (PM Modi) made to the country that the semiconductor industry has to be brought to India, he fulfilled that promise. This is the first step."
"Very soon, the second plant is also going to go into commercial production and after that two more plants will go into commercial production this year," he added.
The minister also reiterated that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project is expected to be inaugurated in 2027.
The 508-km corridor, being implemented with technical and financial assistance from the Government of Japan, will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad through 12 stations across Maharashtra, Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The travel time between the two cities is expected to be under two hours.
