AI, Semiconductor Sectors Top Govt's 100-Day Programme Priority

New Delhi, Mar 26 (KNN) The government is currently devising a 100-day programme post the national elections, running from April to June, with a primary focus on enhancing sunrise sectors such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to sources familiar with the discussions, measures aimed at improving citizens' lives will also receive top priority, reported Mint.

This comprehensive programme will encompass policy initiatives tailored for both short-term and long-term growth objectives.

Ministers have tasked secretaries from various departments with engaging stakeholders over the next month to solicit fresh ideas. These proposals will be presented for consideration at the first cabinet meeting following the elections.

Sunrise sectors, characterized by rapid growth and innovation, are being spotlighted due to their potential to generate high-quality employment opportunities for the youth and foster self-sufficiency in the country.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had previously announced a Rs 1-trillion corpus during the interim budget presentation for financing private sector research and innovation within these sunrise sectors.

Furthermore, the government's scheme to attract investments into manufacturing through production-linked incentives also extends to sectors like semiconductors and AI.
