Electronics & Pharma Sectors Claim 70% Of PLI Disbursements In FY25
New Delhi, July 14 (KNN) The electronics and pharmaceutical sectors emerged as the top beneficiaries of the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in FY25, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the total fiscal outlay, according to government data cited in a PTI report.
Out of the Rs 10,114 crore disbursed under the scheme during the financial year 2024–25, the electronics sector received Rs 5,732 crore, while pharmaceuticals garnered Rs 2,328 crore.
In comparison, total disbursals stood at Rs 9,721 crore in FY24. The PLI scheme, introduced in 2021 to bolster domestic manufacturing, currently covers 14 sectors and is widely viewed as a key pillar of India’s industrial policy.
The electronics sector's growing prominence is further underscored by its export performance. India’s electronic goods exports rose 32.46 percent in FY25, reaching USD 38.58 billion, up from USD 29.12 billion in FY24 and USD 23.6 billion in FY23. In FY22, exports stood at USD 15.7 billion.
Within the segment, computer hardware and peripherals witnessed a 101 percent growth, doubling from USD 0.7 billion to USD 1.4 billion. The UAE, US, Netherlands, UK, and Italy emerged as key export destinations.
The pharmaceutical sector also continued its steady global expansion. Exports of Indian drugs and pharmaceutical products increased by 10 percent in FY25, reaching USD 30.5 billion.
These products now reach over 200 countries, reinforcing India’s reputation as a key supplier in global healthcare supply chains.
