Ministry Of Electronics Unveils Centre Of Excellence In Chip Design At NIELIT Noida
New Delhi, Feb 6 (KNN) The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has established a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Chip Design at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) campus in Noida. The facility was inaugurated on February 4, 2025, by Ministry Secretary S. Krishnan.
The centre, developed in partnership with DPIIT-recognised start-up SoCTeamup Semiconductors Pvt Ltd, represents a strategic investment in India's technological infrastructure.
It features state-of-the-art facilities including a Project Lab for collaborative research and a Smart Classroom equipped with advanced teaching tools, positioning India to meet growing global semiconductor demands.
During the inauguration ceremony, Secretary Krishnan witnessed a demonstration of VLSI-based Intellectual Property, highlighting the centre’s capability to develop sophisticated semiconductor technologies.
The facility aims to serve as a hub for innovation, bringing together students, professionals, and researchers to advance chip design capabilities in India.
The establishment of this centre aligns with the government's broader vision to enhance India's semiconductor technology capabilities and establish the country as a global leader in electronics and information technology.
By focusing on Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) and chip design, the centre aims to address the critical need for skilled professionals in the semiconductor industry.
NIELIT, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, continues to expand its educational and research initiatives through this new centre.
The collaboration with SoCTeamup Semiconductors, a company specialising in VLSI and System-on-Chip design solutions, strengthens the centre’s ability to deliver cutting-edge training and foster technological innovation in the semiconductor sector.
The centre is expected to play a crucial role in developing a highly skilled talent pool capable of meeting international semiconductor industry standards, thereby strengthening India's position in the global electronics and information technology sectors.
