Semiconductor suppliers likely to set up shop near chip units

New Delhi, Apr 14 (KNN) The central government is attracting companies in peripheral industries for semiconductor manufacturing to establish shop in close proximity to the proposed semiconductor units.

These efforts intend to make the Indian Semiconductor Mission a success, people aware of the development told ET.

Various representatives of industries such as ultra-pure copper, aluminium, water and gases are in touch with government officials, reported ET.

The government is keen in understanding their requirements for setting up units around the proposed semiconductor manufacturing units.

Representatives from these companies had first come to visit the sites of the proposed semiconductor units in Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu in February, a senior official from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said.

Executives from some of these companies visited these sites again last month and were accompanied by central and state government officials who noted down some of the concerns raised by them, one of the officials told ET.  (KNN Bureau)
