US Major Jabil Inc to Invest Rs 1,000 Crore in Gujarat for Second Indian Facility

Gandhinagar, Mar 6 (KNN) US-based electronics manufacturing giant Jabil Inc has announced plans to establish a second facility in India, investing Rs 1,000 crore in Gujarat.

This move is set to bolster India’s semiconductor industry, generate employment, and advance optical networking solutions.

The agreement, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jabil and the Gujarat government at the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit, marks a significant step in the state’s high-tech manufacturing ambitions.

Jabil’s new facility will explore post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics technology, focusing on advanced co-packaged optics capabilities.

The company, known for manufacturing electronic circuit board assemblies and offering supply chain solutions, sees this expansion as a critical step in enhancing its global operations.

Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President, Global Business Units at Jabil, emphasized the strategic importance of Gujarat, stating, “We are proud to welcome Gujarat to Jabil’s global network of over 100 sites across 25 countries. This expansion underscores our ability to implement solutions that best serve our customers.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel welcomed Jabil’s investment, highlighting its potential to create jobs and boost India’s semiconductor sector. “Jabil’s presence will contribute significantly to Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem, fostering growth and competitiveness,” he said.

With over a decade of expertise in photonics, Jabil has been a key player in optical networking, telecommunications, AI, and data communications.

The company also serves industries including semiconductor equipment, automotive, healthcare, and warehouse automation.

Gujarat’s growing reputation as a hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing continues to attract major global investments, solidifying its status as a leader in India’s technological advancements.
