Godrej Commissions 12.5 MWp Rooftop Solar Project In Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Jul 9 (KNN) Godrej Electricals & Electronics, a business unit of Godrej & Boyce, has announced the commissioning of a significant rooftop solar project in Madhya Pradesh.

The 12.5 MWp (Megawatt peak) installation, completed for a textile facility, is reportedly one of the three largest projects of its kind in India and the first of its scale in the state.

The solar array, spanning approximately 1 million square feet atop large manufacturing sheds, is expected to generate substantial green energy for the textile operation.

Company officials estimate the project will result in annual power savings of 17 million kWh.

This development comes as India solidifies its position as the world's third-largest solar power generator, with the renewable energy sector experiencing rapid growth.

Godrej Electricals & Electronics reports ongoing involvement in similar projects across various industries, including cement, automobile, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head, Godrej Electricals & Electronics, highlighted the project's significance, stating, "As the country aims to triple its renewable capacity by 2030, we anticipate such innovative solutions playing a crucial role in decarbonising energy-intensive sectors while fostering job creation and technological leadership."

The company states it is intensifying efforts to provide customized solar rooftop solutions, recognising the diverse energy needs and sustainability goals of its clientele.

This project underscores the growing trend of large-scale solar installations in India's industrial sector, aligning with national objectives for renewable energy expansion and carbon footprint reduction.
