Himachal Pradesh Signs Rs 1,400-Crore Deal for API, Green Hydrogen & Ethanol Plant

Shimla, Mar 6 (KNN) The Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Commitment (MoC) with Spray Engineering Devices Limited to establish an integrated manufacturing facility worth Rs 1,400 crore in Solan district.
The facility will produce active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), green hydrogen, and 2G ethanol.
According to an official statement, the project will generate employment opportunities for around 1,000 youth in the region. The MoC was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu between Director of Industries Yunus and Spray Engineering Devices Managing Director Vivek Verma.
The upcoming facility is expected to require 30 MW of green hydrogen in its initial phase, with the demand rising to 50 MW in the future.
The chief minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a leading green energy state by March 2026.
He highlighted various initiatives being undertaken, including the establishment of a 1 MW green hydrogen plant in collaboration with Oil India Limited at Nalagarh, Solan.
“We are working towards making Himachal Pradesh a hub for green energy. This project will be a major step in that direction,” Sukhu said. He also directed the concerned company to complete the project within a year.
The new initiative is expected to boost the state’s green energy sector and contribute to India’s goal of sustainable industrial growth.
With this, Himachal Pradesh is set to become a pioneering state in the field of renewable energy and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
