Oil India & Hindustan Copper Ink MoU To Jointly Explore & Develop Critical Minerals

New Delhi, Sep 20 (KNN) Oil India Limited (OIL) and Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore and develop critical and strategic minerals, including copper and associated resources.

The agreement was signed on September 19, 2025, marking a step towards strengthening India’s self-reliance in mineral sourcing.

HCL, a Miniratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, is primarily engaged in the mining, production, and marketing of copper and related products.

Its operations currently focus on copper ore mining, beneficiation, and the sale of copper concentrate.

OIL, a Maharatna public sector company under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is a leading integrated oil and gas producer with expertise in exploration, development, production, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas.

In recent years, the company has diversified into the critical minerals segment to complement its core energy business.

By leveraging their respective expertise, the two PSUs aim to facilitate the availability of resources vital for energy security, industrial development, and technological advancement.
