Entrepreneurship programme for fishery development

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (KNN) With an aim to develop fisheries in the country, the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) is conducting skill and entrepreneurship programme for fishermen, farmers and entrepreneurs.

The course is likely to include topics such as fish seed production and rearing; inland aquaculture of fish, shrimp, ornamental fish; coastal aquaculture of fish, shrimp, seaweed; cage culture in reservoir, lakes; cold water fish seed production, cold water fish culture; aqua clinic, marketing, fish dressing, processing; and manufacture of fishing gear.

In this context, the board will soon be appointing consultants involved in fisheries development.  It has therefore invited bids from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) fisheries colleges, universities and training institutions to be service provider.

NDBF will provide financial assistance for the projects.

NFDB was established to work towards a blue revolution with a focus on increasing the fish production of the country. It has the objective to bring activities relating to fisheries and aquaculture for focused attention and professional management.

It has a vision to develop aquaculture in a big way by adapting new and innovative production technologies, management and utilization of less utilized water resources and with proper market tie-ups. (KNN/ST)
