Expert Comm on innovation & entrepreneurship comes out with recommendations; invites suggestions

New Delhi, Oct 29 (KNN) NITI Aayog had constituted an expert committee for working out the detailed contours of the Atal Innovation Mission and SETU (Self employed and Talent Utilisation) with an aim to promote a culture  of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

The Committee has now come out with some specific recommendations and has called for comments and suggestions.

“Comments/Suggestions are invited on Specific Recommendations of the Expert Committee on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, constituted by NITI Aayog,  latest by 28th November 2015.   Please send your Comments/Suggestions to Dr. D. Bhardwaj by Email at bhardwaj-pc@nic.in in the prescribed format only,” said an official notification.

Among the short term recommendations are to providing adequate support to early-stage ventures.  Under this, the Committee has outlined steps to Utilisation of AIM Funds; Harnessing Corporate Funds to Finance R&D; Improving the Efficiency of Incubators; Utilisation of SETU Funds; Fostering a National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Movement.

Under Medium Term recommendations are  to create an enabling environment for innovation – This includes - Embracing the Platform Mindset; Reforming the Education System and Upskilling Workers:; Strengthening the Intellectual Property (IP) Rights Regime; Improving the Ease of Doing Business.

Longer term recommendations have to do with addressing the cultural Context: Steps towards this are to Attach Entrepreneurship to Large Scale Economic and Social Programs; Promote New, High-Potential Sectors via the “Make in India” Campaign; Foster and encourage a Culture of Coordination and Collaboration; Redefine Success; Make Entrepreneurship Part of the Social-inclusion Agenda.
