Agriculture Minister Discusses Measures To Boost Fruit Exports

Lucknow, May 7 (KNN) Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the government is committed to resolve issues faced by fruit growers.

On a two-day visit to Lucknow to participate in “Fruit Horizon 2026,” the minister interacted with  fruit exporters and other stakeholders. 

He said that Fruit Horizon 2026 is aimed at boosting fruit production, improving quality, and expanding exports.

The event seeks to bring together farmers, scientists, exporters, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for strengthening the horticulture sector and enhancing its contribution to the economy.

It is expected to serve as a platform for discussions on improving productivity, value addition, and market access.

The Minister's engagement with fruit growers, exporters and other stakeholders focussed on identifying issues being faced by the fruit sector and finding solutions to them.

The Fruit Horizon progarmme was attended by Uttar Pradesh ministers Surya Pratap Shahi and Dinesh Pratap Singh, along with senior officials and scientists.

Key agenda items of the programme included improving fruit quality, reducing export rejections, promoting value addition, and strengthening the role of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the horticulture value chain.

Officials indicated that the initiative is expected to generate new opportunities for farmers, encourage technology adoption, and provide momentum to India’s horticulture and fruit export ecosystem.
