Commerce Ministry to Launch Trade Connect e-Platform

New Delhi, Jan 17 (KNN) To address the day-to-day queries about exports and imports, the Ministry of Commerce and Industries is soon launching an e-platform ‘Trade Connect’.

The announcement was made during the meeting of the Board of Trade held on Tuesday in Mandapam, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

“Most comprehensive and up to date information would be provided with the help of experts on procedures, export opportunities, support schemes, standards and compliances in importing countries and the like”, participants were told by senior Commerce Ministry officials.

Lack of information about opportunities is considered a major reason for the skewed nature of exports from India.

Just 5 states namely Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh account for 70% of exports from India.

Similarly, out of 806 districts in India, just 62 districts account for 80% of exports.

The Ministry is pushing for greater digitization of its processes and issuance of Certificate of Origin has also been digitized.
