Engineering Goods Exports Grow 21% To USD 11.48 Billion In June: EEPC India

New Delhi, Jul 28 (KNN) India's engineering goods exports grew 21 percent year-on-year to USD 11.48 billion in June, driven by strong demand from key markets including China, the United States, Germany and Oman, according to EEPC India.

Engineering Exports Maintain Strong Growth Momentum

Engineering exports rose 18.09 percent to USD 34.14 billion during the April-June quarter of FY27, compared to USD 28.91 billion in the corresponding period last year.

The sector, which accounts for over a quarter of India's merchandise exports, contributed 28.4 percent of the country's total merchandise exports in June, based on government quick estimates cited by EEPC India.

China, US and Oman Drive Export Demand

The United States remained the largest destination for Indian engineering goods, with exports valued at USD 1.95 billion during the month, reported Reuters.

Exports to China surged 74 percent year-on-year to USD 361.47 million, while shipments to Oman more than quadrupled to nearly USD 259 million.

EEPC Seeks Continued Government Support

EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha said the sector has remained resilient despite disruptions to global trade caused by the West Asia conflict and shipping challenges in the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz.

He noted that engineering goods exports have remained above USD 10 billion in each of the first three months of the current financial year and stressed the need for continued government support to sustain growth amid emerging global risks.

Mixed Regional Performance, Broad-Based Product Growth

While exports increased across most regions, shipments to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia declined. However, a sharp rise in exports to Oman helped maintain overall growth in the West Asia and North Africa region.

India also recorded higher engineering exports to Turkey, reversing the decline witnessed in the previous year.

According to EEPC India, 27 of the 34 engineering product categories registered year-on-year export growth in June, while exports of lead and lead products, internal combustion engines, cranes, lifts and office equipment declined.
