Extend last date for filing "complicated" Form GSTR 9 as traders across India facing different issues: CAIT to FM

New Delhi, Aug 23 (KNN) The country's traders including the small retailers have urged the Finance Ministry to extend last date for filing annual GST return in Form GSTR 9 as they find it quite "complicated".

The traders' apex body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in a communication sent to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has urged for extension of last date for filing annual GST return in Form GSTR 9.

The last date for filing such return is August 31, 2019.

CAIT National President B C Bhartia & Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, while demanding the extension, said the prescribed Form GSTR 9 for filing annual return is still very complicated.

Many informations demanded in the said Form are totally new and therefore were never included GST software of different companies and their compilation is a gigantic task therefore inspite of best efforts traders are findy it difficult comply with same, they said.

CAIT said many a times the GST portal is not working efficiently preventing the traders from uploading the form.

They also said that currently since last more than twenty days internet connectivity in J&K is highly disruptive and flood in various parts of the country has badly affected the businesses and will take time to them restoring normalcy .

The CAIT has urged the Finance Minister  to extend the last date from August 31, 2019 to October 31, 2019 keeping view of the circumstances.

It has also said that the GSTR 9 Form should be simplified to the extent that even an ordinary trader may able to file the return himself. (KNN Bureau)
