Eyeing at efficient production and trade promotion, 65 MoUs signed at Textile India 2017

New Delhi, July 3 (KNN) In a bid to facilitate modern production techniques and increase production as well as textile trade, as many as 65 MoUs were signed at the Textile India 2017 in Gandhinagar.                                                                                                                         

These agreements took place between various national and international organizations from the textile industry and the government.  Countries including China, Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Japan were a part of these agreements.

Key focus areas of the MoUs ranged from research and development, information exchange, documentation, skill development to commercialization of handloom products.  Also special focus was given on production of silk, supply of cotton, trade promotion and overseas partnership during the meet.

Talking to press at the event, Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani said that the present age is proving to be a ‘golden era’ for development of textile industry. She further highlighted her Ministry’s efforts in addressing the concerns of the industry.

Key officials present at the event included Union Textiles secretary Anant k Singh, Additional Secretary Pushpa Subrahmanyam and textile commissioner Kavita Gupta.

Textile India 2017, the three daylong event kicked off In Gandhinagar on 30th June and continued till July 2nd.  (With PIB Inputs)
