Father of entrepreneurship movement in India, Dr. V.G. Patel, Founder & Director of EDII, passes away

Ahmedabad, Apr 6 (KNN) An eminent economist and father of entrepreneurship movement in India, Dr. V.G Patel who was also the Founder & Director of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) passed away at the age of 79 years on April 4, 2019 here.

Known for his passionate role in entrepreneurship movement, Dr. Patel was an inspiration for many entrepreneurs in his lifetime.

In 2017, the Government of India had awarded him with a Padma Shri for his contribution to the entrepreneurship movement.

Speaking on his demise, Director of EDII, Sunil Shukla said “While it is a huge loss to the discipline of entrepreneurship, EDII in particular has lost a mentor and a guide.”

Dr. Patel set up EDII in 1983 to work for potential and existing entrepreneurs.

His contribution and work towards inclusion of entrepreneurship in the formal education system will be remembered for life time.
