Food processors’ Association happy with time extension for obtaining licence

New Delhi Feb 11 (KNN) The All India Food Processors' of India (AIFPI) hailed the extension given by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for obtaining licence by three months for securing registration under Food Safety and Standards.

AIFPI President Amit Dhanuka, however, said that many extensions have already given to the food processing units.

Talking to KNN, Dhanuka called it a positive move and said that the new CEO of the FSSAI is quite active.

He was optimistic that the stalled infrastructure projects would shoot up soon.

The extension was given for more than three years and many companies are yet to registered under it, he added.

FSSAI has extended the last date by three months for obtaining licence and securing registration under Food Safety and Standards, Pawan Kumar Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI had said this on Wednesday during an event.

Everyone needs to have licence who is associated with the food business, AIFPI President said adding that there were wider circulation about the law but still people do not get them registered, he added.

In terms of licensing and registration of food business, only about 33 lakh food businesses are so far licence or registered and there are close to 5 crore food businesses in the country.  (KNN Bureau)
