New Delhi, Jul 21 (KNN)  The All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA) has asked its members to send in points for discussion for a meeting to be held next month with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

A meeting between FSSAI and industry chambers has been scheduled for August-5 here to discuss/sort out matters of common interest of the industry.

AIFPA has asked all food processing units to send in their issues to be discussed by July-31.

Established in 1943, AIFPA’s members are involved in the processing of fruits and vegetables, meat and fish; milk and milk products, and also biscuit and confectionery products, ready-to-serve beverage and ethnic delicacies, among others.

Member Industries account for a large percentage of the total production of this industry in India and a considerable portion of the exports.

Established under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 FSSAI has been created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.  (KNN/ES)
