Foreign tourist arrivals grows by 6.1 % in Sept 2015 over Sept 2014

New Delhi, Oct 10 (KNN) As many as 5.40 lakh foreign tourists visited India in September 2015 as compared to 5.09 lakh in September 2014 registered a growth of 6.1 per cent in September 2015 over the same period of month in 2014.

The monthly estimate data released by the Ministry of Tourism showed that foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) during the period January- September 2015 were 56.08 lakh showing a growth of 4.6 per cent over January- September 2014.

The share of FTAs in India during September  2015 among the top 15 source countries was highest from Bangladesh (18.81 per cent), followed by USA (10.99 per cent), UK (7.96 per cent), Malaysia (4.72 per cent), Sri Lanka (4.69 per cent), Australia (3.39 per cent), China (3.37 per cent), Japan (3.20 per cent), Germany (2.89 per cent), Canada (2.51 per cent), Nepal (2.44 per cent), France (2.39 per cent),Singapore (2.13 per cent), Pakistan (1.61 per cent) and Afghanistan (1.27 per cent).

These top 15 countries account for 72.37 per cent of total FTAs during September 2015.

The foreign exchange earnings (FEEs) in September 2015 were Rs 9,512 crore as compared to Rs 9,057crore in September 2014 showing a growth of 5.0 per cent.

FEEs from tourism in January- September 2015 were Rs 91,737 crore showing a growth of 3.2 per cent over the same period during 2014. (KNN Bureau)
