Four new footwear design centres to open

New Delhi, Apr 30 (KNN) Four new Footwear Design and Development Institute centres will be opened in the country with a financial assistance of Rs 437 crore to be provided by Ministry of Commerce, Parliament was informed today.
 
The centres will be set up in Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Guna in Madhya Pradesh, Patna and Hyderabad.
 
Conversion of FDDI Training Centre in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh into a full-fledged campus which will cost Rs 80 crore is also on the cards.
 
“The government plans to open leather training institutes all across the country on temporary basis to train two lakh people with an outlay of Rs 339 crore,” said Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, D Purandeswari.

During the year 2012-13 of 12th plan, 27051 persons were trained with assistance of Rs 24.92 crore. (KNN)
