Foxconn to set-up Skill Centre in India for its production expansion plan

New Delhi, July 18 (KNN) Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn is considering to set up a skill development centre in India to support its production base expansion plan in the country.

It is likely to be similar to its Hon Hai Research Institute in Taiwan, as per ET.

The contract manufacturing company which is one Apple’s largest and oldest supplier is building an ecosystem to support to boost expansion of its production base in India, according to ET sources.

It is also looking to tap Electric Vehicles market in India and manufacture it here.

The idea was discussed by Andy Lee, the chief executive of its Foxtron electric vehicle venture, in the presence of Foxconn chairman Young Liu and a cluster of states at a meeting organised last month when Liu was visiting India, they said.

This matter came up during a discussion on India’s young population and the demographic dividend it offers, the country’s expanding EV ecosystem and the rapidly growing market, the people said.

Along with India there is a possibility that Brazil can be their next two growth centres.  (KNN Bureau)
