FSSAI proposes mentioning exact blend of edible oils in percentage terms on packs' front

New Delhi, July 5 (KNN) Keeping in mind the consumer interest and enable them to make right and informed choice, Food Standard and Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed that food businesses trading in blended edible oil should mention the exact blend in terms of percentage on the pack’s front along with the other labeling modifications.

On part of labeling declaration, FSSAI in its draft regulation notified that the font size of the label declaration “Blended Edible Vegetable Oil” shall not be less than 5 mm.

While in case of net quantity of edible oils contained in the packages more than 1 litre, the font size of the label declaration shall not Be less than 10 mm.

In addition, they are required to declare “Not to be sold loose” in bold capital letters with the name of product on front/central panel.

These regulations may be called the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labeling) First Amendment Regulations, 2018, said FSSAI in its draft notification.
